Privacy, AI & emerging wireless safety Acknowledge Think before you share your location, private photos, videos, voice recordings, or sensitive family information—especially anything involving children. AI can imitate faces and voices, and material shared online may be copied or misused. Your safety matters more than following a trend or fear of missing out (FOMO).
Read the safety reminder Before joining a trend, app, or AI service, ask: who is collecting my information, why do they need it, how will it be used, who can access it, and can I delete it? Avoid posting children’s identifying details, routines, school information, or live locations. Consider their privacy now and in the future. Share only what is necessary. Limit camera, microphone, location, contact, and file permissions, and review who can access the resources you use. Check unexpected calls, messages, and requests for money through a trusted contact method. A familiar face or voice alone does not prove someone’s identity. Pause, reconsider the risks, and make informed choices. Protecting your privacy helps protect your family. SAFETY IS IMPORTANT. Acknowledging this reminder dismisses it on this browser; it does not grant data permissions or accept service terms.
6G and integrated sensing: capabilities and limits Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is part of the IMT-2030/6G development framework. It proposes using radio systems for communication and sensing, including detecting objects, estimating position and mapping environments. The label “6G” does not establish that a particular capability is deployed in your area.
Some specialized radio systems can detect motion or form limited images through certain barriers under suitable conditions. Performance depends on equipment, frequency, power, distance, wall materials and the environment. This does not establish that ordinary antennas can see everything, identify everyone, read thoughts, or continuously monitor every home.

Privacy, security and social concerns to consider This is a practical overview, not an exhaustive list. Risks depend on the actual system and how its data are used.
Consent and bystanders: Can people understand when sensing occurs, including people who did not sign up for a service? Are children and private spaces protected?Location and behavior: Could collected data reveal routines, movement, occupancy or sensitive activities? Could records be combined with other data to identify or profile people?Sensitive inferences: Research discusses physiological sensing in some settings. Such inferences can be inaccurate and are not automatically medical diagnoses.Control and accountability: Who collects the data, for what purpose, for how long, and with whom is it shared? Can people inspect, challenge or delete records where applicable?Security: Unauthorized access, leaks, spoofed signals, compromised devices and reuse beyond the original purpose need safeguards.Fairness and misuse: Errors, biased automated decisions, impersonation, stalking, discrimination and manipulative advertising are concerns to assess—not proof that they are occurring in a particular system.Environmental and access concerns: Energy use, electronic waste, affordability and unequal access also deserve scrutiny.Ask providers about meaningful consent, data minimization, access controls, encryption, retention limits, independent testing and complaint channels. Turning off an app permission may reduce that app’s access, but is not a universal way to prevent external radio sensing.

Health: established hazards, research questions and practical care Radiofrequency fields are non-ionizing. At sufficiently high exposures they can heat tissue; exposure limits are designed to protect against established adverse effects. WHO’s published 5G guidance says no adverse health effect has been causally linked to wireless exposure and that public-health consequences are not anticipated below international guidelines. That guidance is not a blanket certification of every future 6G system or frequency.
Exposure assessment: Frequency, power, duration, distance and operating conditions matter. New equipment and exposure patterns require appropriate evaluation and compliance testing.Long-term evidence: Cancer, reproductive/developmental outcomes and other possible long-term effects continue to be studied. Questions under investigation should not be presented as proven harms. IARC classified radiofrequency fields as “possibly carcinogenic” (Group 2B) in 2011; this identifies uncertainty and possible hazard, not proof that compliant networks cause cancer.Skin and eyes: Higher-frequency RF energy is absorbed more superficially. This is a reason for suitable exposure assessment, not evidence that normal network use damages skin or eyes.Medical devices: Electromagnetic interference is a separate concern from tissue heating. Follow your implant/device manufacturer’s instructions and clinician’s advice. FDA recommends keeping phones and smartwatches that may create magnetic interference at least 6 inches (15 cm) from implanted medical devices.Digital wellbeing: Scams, harassment, sleep disruption from device habits, anxiety and distress are also worth addressing; these should not be confused with demonstrated injury from radio waves. If you have symptoms or a medical-device concern, seek appropriate clinical advice rather than assuming a wireless signal is the cause. Choose equipment that meets applicable exposure requirements and avoid products promising unverified protection.
